The second part of the Bridge over Time. Contemporary Picture of the Past. After the Revolution has been officially launched on April 24, 2026
The Medium Gallery in Bratislava hosted the research group of curators, art critics, scholars from Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
The initiative is a continuation of the Bridge over Time. Contemporary Picture of the Past research project, implemented under Visegrad Grant between 2021-2022 that aimed to develop a comprehensive art history of the Visegrad countries and the region.
In the first part of the project common avant-garde art history until 1989 has been analysed. The results were presented during the conference and in the form of ebook (you can download it for free here: https://www.midart.eu/bridge-over-time-contemporary-picture-

With the meeting in Slovakia, the group have started to develop the research again, this time, focusing on art after 1990 to 2020 (COVID-19 sanitary crisis), the period of post- communist era of transformation and new development within the United Europe. Within the project the documentary films will be produce on art and artist representing the period under study. The project will conclude with the conference in Gdansk.

Bridge Over Time. Part 2: After the Revolution

The first meeting in person, so everyone presents their research interests related to art and especially the art of Central Europe.
Czech presentation by Štěpánka Bieleszová
- presentation about Czech research group (5–6 slides),
- about publications of Czech art after 1990 (3 slides),
- proposal for our research within the project (3 slides),
- proposal featuring 3 artists for the films (4-5 slides).
Hungarian presentation by Kata Balázs-Miklós

Presentation by the Slovak Research Group (Alexandra Tamasova and Miroslava Urbanová):
- Selected artists and artistic phenomena considered significant for Slovak art from the 1990s to approximately 2020 (until the COVID-19 pandemic).
- Three Slovak artists selected for a documentary film presentation.

- discussion about adopted research methodology,
- finding common points in the art history of the period under study,
- identifying main problems (topics) in each country,
- discussion and making a decision about the structure of the documentary films.

Open meeting to the public with a presentation of documentary films about art from the
period under study (1990s-2020).
- Presentation of the publication Bridge Ove Time. Part 2, its assumptions, content and structure of chapters (Łukasz Guzek and Agnieszka Kulazińska) and discussion.
- Documentary films about Polish artist: Marek “Rogulus” Rogulski, Artur Tajber,
Grzegorz Klaman.
